QUESTIONS SENT BY MR.TAKEMASA AND ANSWERS BY MRS. FAUZIA MINALLAH

How about the situation of the Pakistani war?

Security situation is very bad children are not safe at school. Every school has guard with guns because terrorist have also threatened school. I am very concerned when my children go to school we always prayed that they are safe there.

Can you live in peace?

No, how can we live in peace when the situation is so bad. Life has to go on we find ways to keep our selves happy and our children happy.

Can the children smile?

Yes, children smile even in very bad situation even if you look at children in Haiti after the devastating earth quake one can see children smiling but war and conflict always gives bad memories to children and that is why we wish that children never experience war.

Can the children have dream?

Yes children have dreams even when they are in very difficult situation every child wants fighting to stop every child dreams of peace.

We are anxious about you?

Thank you for your concern it means a lot to us.

From Mr. Takemasa

We have begun to paint with colors in the middle of December.
Some our work are late, and I'm sorry.
We feel that it is more difficult to paint with a color than deciding a design.
Because we cannot make colors according to an image, we are troubled.
I am sorry that the completion of the picture is late.
We seem not to be able to send a picture by the end of December.
We need time more.
I think that the picture is completed by the end of January, but is your plan all right?

From Fauzia Minallah
Please don’t feel sorry for being late we will Wait for your mural and than we will paint our half mural as you can see on this blog that we Pakistani students have shared their ideas. All the best

Ideas for the Mural

IDEAS FOR THE MURAL

Marziyeh Ozark
hi i am marziyeh, my idea is to make aliyeh
collage of our common intersts like music , sports, etc and also the collage would contain artwork from japanese and pakistani students, with the border being hand prints in red and green , the colour's representing each country's flag

Sarah Khan

We could utilize some of the flowers that japan associates itself with, maybe we can make a border with either the chrysanthemum or the cherry blossom. Are we making the Japanese side or our own? If the Japanese side, we can use these flowers, and if our own then jasmine. :) maybe we can show they're flag in the background and add some cranes, to show the Hiroshima incident.

Dawar Aziz

My idea for peace is that we should use football as a symbol of spreading friendship and peace since almost the entire world plays, and loves it. I am sure some of the Japanese students must be fans of Football in Japan, I like Chelsea.

Haider Abbas

About my idea i was thinkig of making hands with a releasing dove which symbolises harmony. I have also searched on how to write the word peace in japanese language but have to confirm it from those sudents...another idea which came to my mind was to make japanese geisha which you must have seen, are the traditional outfit of japanese...These are some ideas and im thinking of others to.

Anum Hamid

Actually i think we can draw a person and divide it from the center half of it can be Pakistani and half of it Japanese. Also we can show a dove in the persons hand, and the background could be both countries flag or combination of the cresent and the red circle (which represents the sun).

Funkor Childart Center has already been a part of exchange with Japan. Mrs. Fauzia Minallah's book 'Sadako's Prayer has been translated in Japanese too by the Asian Network of Trust, Hiroshima. I have uploaded two newspaper articles which featured her work. I hope you enjoy reading them in Japanese.

Two students who are a part of the exchange Sarah Khan and Zehra Khan made this beautiful mural in 2005 for the 60th commemoration of the bombing of Hiroshima.
